Our Summer Fun

I thought I would start off this blog by summarizing some of the highlights of our summer. This summer has gone by quickly but we sure crammed a lot of fun events into it. And when we are not out having fun we are working on some sort of project in our home or yard.

We hiked to the top of "P" mountain in Payson. From the top you can see the whole valley and the kids thought it was pretty neat trying to find different places and buildings from way up there.

We went for a family bike ride to watch Grandpa Hansen shear sheep and on the way home one of Addies training wheels got too close to the edge of the road and she crashed. Sadly it was the buckle of the helmet that cut her chin. She received 7 stitches..... And she still rides her bike.

We had been telling the kids that when we move into our new home we can get a kitten. Addie named the stripped one Diego and we asked Grayson what we should name the black and white one and he said "boo" so Boo it is. They are growing rapidly and know that when Grayson comes toward them they need to get out of the way.

Ryan's brother graduated basic training in Missouri in June and we thought we would take a road trip out there. We took a Northern route and went to Nauvoo on the way. We planned to camp a few nights and that actually turned into two nights. We got rerouted due to the flooding and we were right in the middle of it during it's peak. It was neat for us to see but sad to know people were loosing so much due to it. The whole trip was about 3500 miles in 10 days. The kids did really well considering the long days in the car.

Our family at the Nauvoo Temple. Ryan's parent's and sister-in-law flew into St. Louis and met us in Nauvoo for a few days, so we were able to do a session in the Temple. That was really neat.

Then we all made the journey to St. Louis to take the tour though the Gateway arch. I was worried Addie and Grayson would be so scared on the ride up and at the top, but they loved it. Addie was laying on her belly and could not get close enough to the little window. They thought it was so neat.
All in all we had a great trip and it was fun to see Jared in Fort Lenordwood MO. The day after graduation he was bussed to Texas until October when he completed the rest of his training.
-So does this mean we get to go to Texas in October!!!-

Another highlight of the summer was the grand opening of the new pool here in Payson. They both fell in love with it right away. Addie now loves to practice "swimming under water" and she is amazing.

There is no summer without a few trips to Salem pond to feed the ducks.

Popsicle anyone!

Lizard lake 5 mile hike.
We went on numerous camping and fishing trips this summer and the kids loved everyone of them. They love to sleep in the tent.

Addie and her friend Anna wanted to have a lemonade stand last week. They made the signs and went door to door telling people they were selling Lemonade. This neighborhood is the best Lemonade stand location. The both made about $3.00

Last week we decided to go to Timpanogos Cave. To get to the cave it is a mile and a half. I thought "oh that's nothing" but it is more than uphill the whole way. They give you an hour and a half to make it to the cave and we did indeed take an hour and a half. Addie hiked the whole way, I was so proud of her.
